Once the skins are on the skis, you're ready to go. Soon, everyday life is left behind and only the here and now comes with you into the snowy winter world. On the Nockberge-Trail, the ski tour can be extended by one, two or sometimes even three days.
The Nockberge mountains, the Goldeck and the neighboring Reißeck group offer a variety of easy and challenging ski tours. Beginners can try their hand at one of the nature trails. Some ski tours are also suitable for families with children.
Professionals set their sights on a Nockberge summit with snow-covered flanks. There are several of them. How about a Mallnock ski tour, a Wöllaner Nock ski tour or a royal tour to the Königsstuhl? The Nockberge-Trail guides ski tourers for four days through the Nockberge mountains. Here, too, there are several peaks along the way or within easy reach.
Gentle ridges, open slopes, sparse forests and spectacular deep snow descents alternate constantly on the Nockberge-Trail. Hikers spend four days on touring skis through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Carinthian Nockberge. The first stage starts at Katschberg. The tour includes the ski resorts of Innerkrems, Turracher Höhe, Falkert and Bad Kleinkirchheim. This guarantees plenty of comfort and, in between, relaxing moments in the thermal baths or with wellness on the mountain.
Tip: The Nockberge-Trail is Austria's first year-round trail that can be booked online. It can also be hiked with snowshoes and/or hiking boots.
On the Turracher Höhe, the Kornock downhill run no. 1 becomes a ski touring slope on Thursdays from 17:00 - 19:30. Use is free of charge. In the Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area, ski touring is permitted daily from 06:00 to 08:30 with a valid ski touring ticket from Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen. The Carinthian ski pass is not valid. One of the most popular ski tours in Bad Kleinkirchheim is the FIS K70 ski route. It is accessible for ski tourers during the day. The starting point is the Bad Kleinkirchheim sports arena.

Stepping off-piste requires good preparation. Previous knowledge of avalanche awareness and assessing the terrain is just as important as being familiar with avalanche transceivers.
For a first safe ski tour, the 1st Carinthian ski touring nature trail at the Heidi-Alm mountain resort on the Falkert is ideal. This route is available to everyone free of charge and is perfect for beginners as well as experienced ski tourers looking for a safe experience. The marked trail is divided into six sections and leads away from the secured pistes through the Sonntagstal valley to the Falkertscharte and on to the Falkertspitz. If you don't want to set off on your own, you can explore the Falkert ski tour with a certified ski instructor from the Falkert ski school. You can also hire touring skis and skins there. However, skiing ability and a minimum level of fitness are essential for the tour.
The avalanche-safe Millet Rise Up Parcour on the Goldeck sports mountain has also been specially developed for beginners. If you start at the top station of the valley lift, you have 362 vertical meters to the summit and eight stops with information boards. Beginners can learn ski touring from scratch here. A smartphone in your pocket is a must, as boards with QR codes have been set up at every hairpin bend. Once scanned, a video opens in which a state-certified mountain guide explains the techniques for ski touring and gives helpful tips. Dogs are generally allowed on the ski tour. They must be kept on a lead on the slopes and in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Carinthian Nockberge without exception.
