The Carinthian Nockberge mountains offer mountain bikers a unique adventure: conquering the peaks by MTB: the gentle crests of the Nockberge mountains and their peaks, some of which are over 2,000 metres above sea level, make it possible. Thanks to the mild climate south of the Alps, tours in the NOCKBIKE region can be undertaken well into October.

Mountain bike trails for everyone

Around 300 kilometres of tours and trails of varying levels of difficulty await freeride, enduro and all-mountain bikers on a mountain bike holiday on the southern side of the Alps. You can pedal at all altitudes in and around the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Carinthian Nockberge. The trails lead around lakes, along the sunny plateau, through shady mountain forests, across flowering alpine meadows and up to lofty heights. Some of the trails are suitable for beginners, others are popular challenges for ambitious summit bikers. Many tours are suitable for families and can be tackled by e-mountainbike!

Mountain biking in the NOCKBIKE Region

The lush green peaks blend into the landscape as if painted with gentle, delicate brushstrokes. From a distance, the grassy mountain peaks are reminiscent of the delicious cheese dumplings that are served in Carinthia. At second glance, however, crisp climbs challenge bikers to top performances. Demanding freeride tours with exciting mountain bike trails on natural paths lead up to over 2,000 metres above sea level. At the summit, the Carinthian lake district lies at the bikers' feet. Afterwards, downhill fun awaits - partly on spectacular single trails.

A well-rounded affair

What a bike day! It starts in Feld am See. The NOCKBIKE shuttle takes mountain bikers to Bad Kleinkirchheim. The first metres in altitude are then conquered with the mountain railway. The Kaiserburg is both the end of the route and the start. From here, the 15-kilometre-long Bad Kleinkirchheim Flow Country Trail winds its way down into the valley. The trail is divided into four sections. Sections with a rollercoaster feeling give way to sections with tight banked turns and steep tables that are really challenging. At the Rossalm, some bikers leave the flow trail and switch to the natural single trails.

Nature single trails

Bikers follow the "Rossalm Trail" to the Feldpannalm, which is gentle and undemanding. From here, it becomes much more technically demanding. The last section down to the Lake Brennsee leads along the "Alter Almweg Trail", an uncompromising hollow path that runs mostly through the forest. Roots, rocky terrain and high steps challenge the bikers. At the bottom, a dip in the Brennsee lake and refreshments in the biker lounge await - or the NOCKBIKE shuttle for the next round.
