These are the sunny slopes sloping towards the lake, where Cabernet grapes and old apple varieties such as the Lavanttal banana or the Schafnase ripen. Slow Food Villages are located at the ends of these slopes and are home to sociable people whose terraces are open almost all year round. In autumn, there is a weekend-long celebration!
Wine tavern doors and wine cellars are wide open on 21 September (Millstatt am See) and 22 September (Maltschacher See). On 26 October, Bad Kleinkirchheim celebrates in the spirit of slow food. Regional producers present fine wines, local honey and Carinthian beer on the "Genussmeilen". There is fresh fruit and vegetables, all sorts of smoked food, cheese delicacies and much more. There will also be art on offer in between. The local innkeepers and the Slow Food Communities from the region provide refreshments.
There is music at the stands and, of course, typical Carinthian singing. There are wine tastings and guided tours of the vineyards. Ponies, llamas, many other petting animals and often a make-up corner, where children can transform themselves into the most colourful magical creatures, await the younger guests.
