A trip to the unspoilt southern shore of Lake Millstätter See was already a popular pastime among lovers during the summer months. Then as now, couples landed in the sheltered spots under the old beech trees and spread out their picnic blankets. A small footbridge and a curved seating area were built especially for this purpose.
On the south bank, the trees lean down into the lake and form a protective roof over the picnic area by the water. From here, the view is of the Habsburg villas in the distance and the music of the forest provides atmospheric entertainment. This makes the romantic picnic by the lake one of the most beautiful picnic ideas on the Carinthian lakes.

From the KAP it is a short walk along the lake promenade to the Strobl boat hire in Seemühlgasse 56a. The route can be covered on foot in around eight minutes. After the picnic, the basket is returned to KAP 4613.
The tour takes around 3 hours.
