Our HikingTIME
on a family holiday in Austria

The gentle peaks and panoramic alpine pastures, with well-developed hiking trails extending far into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Carinthian Nockberge, are the perfect place for hiking with children.

We pack our hiking boots and get ready for an unforgettable summer holiday in Carinthia with the whole family that will be remembered forever.

Hiking with children

Austria's most beautiful hiking trails meander gently through nature and make hiking with children easy. The hiking options range from challenging to easy trails, and the unique viewpoints along the well-developed hiking trails invite you to pause for a moment, take a deep breath and enjoy the experience of nature...

... and the motto is: Keep your eyes open! Because it's not just the wonderful flora with the scent of spruce and Swiss stone pine that will delight young and old. With a bit of luck, you might even spot some shy inhabitants of the gentle alpine world during your hike.

Here we take TIME for ourselves and our family!

Did you know?

The "Big Five", i.e. the main game species of the Nockberge mountains, include red deer, roe deer and chamois as well as capercaillie and lynx. And of course: the popular marmots, whose youngest offspring are called "monkeys".

Cosy gondola ride to the mountain peaks

With the region's mountain railways, the first few metres in altitude can be comfortably shortened to unique panoramic views, where the next hiking adventure awaits us.

Guided family hikes...

... with trained biosphere park rangers through the unique world of flora and fauna of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains.

My 1st summit in the Nockberge

On the family hiking trail "My 1st summit in the Nockberge", little summiteers celebrate their first summit victory together with the whole family. The trail starts in the "Valley of Delights" - the Langalm Valley. After just under one and a half hours of hiking with 6 play stations and well-prepared information boards, we reach the first summit, the Arkerkopf in the Nockberge mountains.

TIP: The tour can be explored individually at your own pace, or we can simply follow a biosphere park ranger, who also provides interesting information about the protected area.

Our family adventures

A variety of adventurous experiences await young and old on a family holiday in Austria: summer toboggan runs and summer tubing runs, exciting excursion destinations and much more promise an eventful TIME.

Active Park in Bad Kleinkirchheim

The active park at the Brunnach biosphere park railway mountain station is a popular meeting place for families. Skilfulness, coordination and no fear of water are required here as you cross the pond via balancing elements, through the water labyrinth and with your own muscle power on the cable ferry.

Kaiserburg Bob in Bad Kleinkirchheim

Carinthia's first year-round roller bobsleigh run provides a rollercoaster feeling with panoramic views right at the valley station of the Kaiserburgbahn cable car! The 1.4-kilometre-long track takes you downhill through 26 sleek bends at a maximum speed of 40 km/h.

Heidi Alm on the Falkert

Who hasn't always wanted to experience the famous novel character Heidi and her friends up close and enjoy the beauty of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains? At the Heidi Alm on the Falkert, families can experience real alpine fun and unforgettable adventures!

Nocky Flitzer & Nocky's AlmZeit

The alpine rollercoaster "Nocky Flitzer" on the Turracher Höhe promises even more fast-paced tobogganing adventures and is the fastest way down. The unique children's adventure world "Nocky's AlmZeit" awaits families at the starting point of the summer toboggan run, where Nocky the mountain hare awaits with exciting games, questions and interesting facts on the topic of "TIME".

Feld am See Alpine Wildlife Park

The Feld am See Alpine Wildlife Park boasts four fascinating attractions: an 11-hectare wildlife park that is home to over 30 different animal species, the Africa Adventure World, where giraffes can be seen up close, the Grizzly World, which presents an authentic Canadian wilderness, and the Fish Museum, which features native fish species and impressive giant specimens.

Summer tubing on the Goldeck sports mountain

Action-packed summer tubing for the whole family: the exciting route for special tubes guarantees fun for the whole family and conveys a feeling of freedom and adventure.
