Mountain peaks turn green with age. The Nockberge mountains are now 60 million years old and the green alpine meadows are their characteristic feature. If you set off on the Nockberge-Trail to hike through Austria's largest biosphere reserve from north to south, you will be greeted by more than a dozen gently green and proud peaks, take a deep breath in one of the largest stone pine forests in the Eastern Alps, hear the whistling of marmots, enjoy the encounter with yourself and nature, and at the end you can expect to jump into Carinthia's deepest lake - Lake Millstätter See.
