When the magic of the warm southern light settles over Lake Millstätter See, the gentle mountain peaks that surround it and the green forests, the name Via Paradiso is self-explanatory. The Via Paradiso is 55 kilometers long in total. The long-distance hiking trail begins in Döbriach on Lake Millstätter See and ends at the Sternenbalkon in Gschriet (municipality of Ferndorf).
The tour is divided into four daily stages. Between 10 and 15.2 kilometers should be covered per day. Long-distance hikers on the Via Paradiso cover the most altitude (difference in altitude: 650 meters) on day four. Depending on your fitness level and schedule, you can of course take breaks. A wellness day at the Lake Millstätter See bathhouse is particularly relaxing, and a night in a bivouac under the stars is especially romantic. Six of the seven bivouacs are located in the immediate vicinity of the Via Paradiso.
A certain basic fitness level is necessary for the Via Paradiso. However, all four stages are also very suitable for a first long-distance hike! The technical demands are low. Some sections of the stage trail are classified as moderate. The Via Paradiso is an ideal long-distance hiking trail for families due to the nature of the trail and the low technical demands. The tour is recommended for children aged 10 and over - provided they are in good physical condition.
The highest point of the tour is at 1115 meters above sea level. The hiking season on the Via Paradiso is therefore relatively long.
