The 4.2 kilometre long Millstätter Almstraße toll road starts in Tschierweg, in the market town of Millstatt am See, and ends at the car park of the Schwaigerhütte. From there, the cosy Millstätter Hütte and the Alexanderhütte can both be reached on foot in just 30 minutes. A wonderful 1.5-hour circular route, which is also suitable for pushchairs, connects all three refreshment stops. In between are flower-filled alpine meadows, which have even been recognised for their biodiversity, and the starting point on the "Way of Love. Sentiero dell ámore." It shows lovers the way to the Garnet Gate.
Take a swing and let your thoughts take flight on the Alexander Hut panoramic swing, which was built just above the Alexanderhütte on the Millstätter Alm!
Within sight, the Lammersdorfer Almstraße toll road leads uphill. It is around 4 kilometres long and connects Grantsch in the municipality of Millstatt am See with the Lammersdorfer Alm. The large car park is located directly below the Lammersdorfer Hütte.
The extensive alpine pasture is the ideal starting point for a hike on the Enzian Granatsteig to the Garnet Gate, with a stop at the Hoisbauerhütte on the way back. Families can take the Arnika Jufensteig to Jufen or spend an eventful day on the alpine pasture, where farmer Elisabeth Obweger provides insights into alpine farming and serves delicious alpine cheese made on site.
The Tschiernock panoramic road, a well-developed, toll road of 7.4 kilometres, leads from Treffling in Seeboden to the Millstätter Alpe. Spectacular views of the Carnic Alps and Hohe Tauern accompany the ascent. Parking is available at the Hansbauerhütte and the Sommereggerhütte. Hikers can explore the nature between the two huts at the foot of the Tschiernock along the 1 kilometre long ‘Jagasteig’ trail. The former ski region now attracts not only ambitious hikers, but also families and nature lovers who want to explore the Tschiernockalm nature trail.
The Nockalm Road stretches over 35 km from Innerkrems in the north to Ebene Reichenau in the south and is one of the most impressive Alpine roads for car, motorbike and coach excursions. With gentle gradients, the toll road winds its way through the ‘Nock'n’ in 52 hairpin bends and numerous curves, overcoming the Schiestlscharte (2024 m) and Eisentalhöhe (2042 m). Visitors are accompanied by breathtaking views of one of the largest pine forests in the eastern alps, the round peaks of the Nockberge mountains and the extensive alpine pastures.
The Goldeck panoramic road stretches over 14.5 km from Zlan to the final car park ‘Seetal’ at 1,895 m above sea level. With ten hairpin bends and numerous car parks along the way, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the Gailtal Alps, the Karawanken and the Drau valley all the way to Villach. The peaks of the Julian and Carnic Alps can also be seen in the distance. The panoramic road to the Goldeck is one of Carinthia's top excursion destinations thanks to its magnificent views. Numerous hiking trails await hikers at the Seetal car park, offering the opportunity to explore and enjoy nature. The Wieserhütte invites you to linger with Carinthian specialities and a great view.
The "valley of delights", as the Langalm valley is often called, can be reached via a toll road (Langalmtal toll road with coin slot - no change return) from Kaning. If you want to stop off in the Langalm valley, you can choose from six huts. Culinary specialities from the region are served everywhere, many of which are home-made. The Petodnighütte, the Veidlhütte, the Aichholzerhütte, the Winklerhütte and the Erlacherhaus can be reached via the Almstraße. From the Erlacherhaus, a hike along the family hiking trail "my first summit" to the Erlacher Bockhütte and on to the Arkerkopf is well worthwhile.
