How warm are the bathing lakes between the lake and the mountains?
An overview of the region’s four lakes suitable for swimming
Whether it’s Lake Millstätter See, Lake Brennsee, Lake Maltschacher See or Lake Flatschacher See: nestled between the lakes and the mountains, the water warms up to swimming temperatures as early as May. Lake Millstatt reaches up to 29 °C in high summer, making it one of the warmest lakes in Carinthia; the smaller swimming lakes often follow suit even earlier, thanks to their shallower depths.

Even outside the swimming season, it’s worth taking a look at the water: many people actually prefer the cooler temperatures when it comes to cold bathing.
