Sirnitz/Albeck was mined for gold and silver, a castle was built and one of the oldest larch trees in Carinthia has flourished here for 1000 years. It wasn't that long ago that a well-known son of the village was chasing the round leather in the German Bundesliga. He returned and turned Sirnitz into a centre of football known far beyond the borders of the Nockberge.
Hinit is Martin Hinteregger's nickname. The former Austrian professional footballer, who was a powerful centre-back for Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of his career, returned to his home country a few years ago and with him a number of sporting events. While the "Hinti Wintergaudi" clearly focuses on fun, teams from near and far skilfully hit the ball into the net at the Hinti Cup. Sirnitz/Albeck is an ideal starting point for hikes and excursions in the Nockberge mountains. A day on an alpine pasture on the Hochrindl is a must. Here, King Waldgeist and Zirbenzapfi welcome hikers on their tours. In between, disc golf is played on the Hochrindl. A bit of skill is required to sink the frisbee disc into the basket. The Hochrindl is the ski mountain of the people of Sirnitz and a popular meeting place in winter for days spent skiing together on the slopes, a cross-country skiing tour on the high-altitude trail or a toboggan run with a stop at a mountain hut.
