Organise ski races with Heidi, Nox, Nixi or mountain bunny Nocky, dive down Carinthia's longest water slide into the warm thermal water, get into the harness on the roller bobsleigh run and master the steep curve or try out the tricks of local heroine and Olympic champion Anna Gasser in the snow parks. Family ski holidays in Carinthia are one thing above all: full of winter adventures. Boredom? Not a chance.

Unlimited family ski holiday

The gentle peaks in the Nockberge mountains are predestined for your first turns together on two boards and winter memories to fill the family album. The Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area is one of the largest ski areas in Carinthia and is located in the region. Just a few kilometres away, snow-sure pistes wind their way down the gentle slopes of the Turracher Höhe. Mastering all the pistes in one day is also a sporting endeavour here on the border with Styria.

Small, fine ski resorts - great for families

Small, fine, clearly laid out, with the family hotel or a chalet right on the piste: At the Heidi Alm on the Falkert and on the Hochrindl, parents can relax in a deckchair and watch their children learn to turn from a distance. The Goldeck sports mountain is also popular with families. Here, the little ones meet up to ski in Carinthia's highest Kinderland, while mum and dad look for off-piste challenges to their heart's content.

Learning to snowboard and ski is child's play ... with the right support! There is one, often even several ski schools and the corresponding professionals in all five winter sports centres. At the beginning, you can ski uphill on magic carpets and all kinds of "wild animals" at the edge of the piste will help you find your way around.

Practical: The ski hire shop is usually right next door. So you don't need your own equipment or a lot of lugging around, and if your ski boots start to pinch after a few hours, you can simply swap them for a larger model.

… Nox and Nixi?

The two mermaids live in the thermal springs in Bad Kleinkirchheim. In winter, however, they have declared the Kidsslope next to the Sonnenleiten lift in St. Oswald to be their favourite place.

... Heidi, Peter and the Alm-Öhi?

They head to Heidi's SchneeALM on the Falkert in the winter months. The little ones practise their first turns, while the older ones try out the wave run, rails, kickers and boxes.

... Mountain raven Nocky and his friends?

Mountain hare Nocky, weasel, mountain chough and fox keep a watchful eye on the youngest ski and snowboard guests on the Turracher Höhe. Their territory is Nocky's winter time at the practice meadow lift.

Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area: A ski pass for children for € 1,-

The parent-friendly promotion is back again this year! Families staying in one of the 70 or so partner businesses of Bad Kleinkirchheim Bergbahnen can buy a ski pass for their children for 1 euro per day during the promotion period (04.01. - 07.03.2025)!

Practical: The ski ticket is an optional ticket. If the little ones need some relaxation in between, you can also buy admission to the Thermal Römerbad (4-hour ticket excl. sauna) instead of a day's skiing!

Sportberg Goldeck: Where children ski for free!

Children up to the age of 14 (born 2010 and younger) can ski for free on the perfectly groomed slopes of the Goldeck sports mountain from 7 January 2025 until the end of the season.

The free ski pass for the children is issued if the parents book a family holiday at one of the participating partner businesses and at least one parent purchases a ski pass for the Sportberg Goldeck.

Free admission to Heidi's SchneeALM

The Winter Kärnten Card opens the door to Heidi's SchneeALM at the Heidi Alm Falkert. Use is also free for children up to their 6th birthday when accompanied by a paying adult. In the fenced-in adventure area, the little ones can make safe turns and whizz downhill on toboggans or snow tubes. And the parents? They can enjoy the winter sun from the cosy deckchairs!
