Manageable, extensive and varied: what sounds contradictory is the programme in the Hochrindl ski area. Families can head uphill on the Kegel, while ambitious skiers and even pros can be pulled up on the Kruckenlift. It's worth taking a short break after getting off, as the view from here stretches far into the south.
The Hochrindl lies between the Reichenau plain and Sirnitz and is actually an Alpine pass. In winter, ambitious skiers, winter guests carving downhill on snowboards and families all enter the Hochrindl ski area into their sat nav. Long descents on blue and red pistes await families. In between, there are occasional runs through the snow-covered forests. For that extra dose of sunshine, there are cosy deckchairs on the slopes. They are also popular for watching the action on the race piste. The "Kruckn" is an official FIS race course, on which young alpine hopefuls compete several times a year.
When winter arrives, ex-professional footballer Martin Hinteregger invites you to the Hinti-Wintergaudi in the Hochrindl ski area. The participating teams compete in Zipfelbob racing, straw sack racing and tyre sliding.
My winter fun date 2025: 11 and 12 January
The young racers of tomorrow compete on the "Kruckn". All winter guests can have a go on the toboggan runs. The run at the Zirbenhütte is floodlit and has a timekeeping system. This opens the door to sporting competition and fun.
If you are not yet a Nordic winter sports fan, you need to watch out on the Hochrindl. The area and the perfectly groomed trails tempt you to try your hand at cross-country skiing.
The cosiness and enjoyment of the Hochrindl ski area invite you to stop for a bite to eat. For example in the Hiaslhütte, the Wugganig-Hütte, the Herzlhütte, the Bauernstub'n or in the Sternen Berg Gasthof.
